Arm lift surgery – what does it Involve and what should I expect?
In the grand scheme of things arm lift surgery is a relatively common surgery procedure, carried out under general anaesthesia. The operation in itself would normally take around 1 to 2 hours. Post-operative discomfort is minimal with the patient normally hospitalised for a day or so. After the operation, you can expect some bruising and swelling, we would always recommend the patient wears a compression support garment and takes antibiotics to prevent infection for a few weeks as most of the swelling will disappear after around 3 weeks, as long as the patient stays away from any strenuous activity. Patient recovery times do vary however you should expect to be able to go back to work 2 to 3 weeks after your arm lift surgery. During this recovery period our after-care team expect 4 to 5 post-operative check-ups to be completed Most of our patients are very pleased with the results, confidence improves especially when they feel they can wear the clothes they want, especially short sleeved tops.
